First Impressions

When the Crossbeats Lumex Cine arrived, I was genuinely impressed by how compact it was. It is roughly the size of a thick novel, and the build quality feels premium for this price range. The matte finish does not attract fingerprints, which is a blessing if you have kids around like I do. The included remote is basic but functional, and I appreciated that they bundled a short HDMI cable in the box.

How I Tested This

I set this up in my 12×14 feet bedroom in Pune, projecting onto a plain white wall. Over three weeks, I watched everything from Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan on Prime Video to my son’s Chhota Bheem episodes on YouTube. I tested it during afternoon hours with curtains drawn, and at night with complete darkness. I also connected my laptop for a few work presentations and hooked up my Fire TV Stick 4K to really push its limits.

Performance

Let me be upfront about the marketing claims. This is NOT a true 4K projector. It accepts 4K input but the native resolution is 1080p, which is still decent for this budget. The 16000 lumens figure is likely ANSI lumens converted from some inflated Chinese measurement, real-world brightness is closer to 400-500 ANSI lumens. That said, in a dark room, the picture quality genuinely surprised me. Colors were vibrant, blacks were acceptable, and watching Pathaan’s action sequences was actually enjoyable.

The Android OS is where things get tricky. It runs a modified Android 9, which feels sluggish at times. Netflix does not work directly due to DRM issues, a common problem I have seen mentioned in Flipkart reviews too. My workaround was using the Fire TV Stick, which honestly gave better results anyway. The built-in speakers are passable for casual viewing but I strongly recommend pairing it with a Bluetooth speaker for any serious movie night.

Value for Money

At around 15K, you are getting a lot of projector for your money. The auto-keystone correction works surprisingly well, saving me from manual fiddling every time I moved it. The throw distance is flexible enough that I could project a 100-inch image from about 3 meters away. Fan noise is noticeable in quiet scenes but nothing that ruins the experience.

What Could Be Better

The focus ring feels cheap and sometimes slips. Input lag makes gaming basically impossible, so do not buy this thinking you will play FIFA on the big screen. Also, the power adapter runs quite hot after extended use, which concerns me a bit for long-term durability. Several Amazon reviewers have mentioned similar heating issues.
