Detailed Review
First Impressions
When I unboxed these Bose QC Ultra earbuds, the first thing I noticed was how premium the White Smoke colour looks in person. It’s not a plain white – there’s a subtle warmth to it that doesn’t scream for attention. The case is compact enough to slip into my jeans pocket, which honestly matters more than people think. Build quality feels solid, though I’d still be careful around water since the IPX4 rating means sweaty gym sessions are fine, but Mumbai monsoon rains? I wouldn’t risk it.
How I Tested This
I’ve been using these daily for about three weeks now. My real test? The Delhi Metro during peak hours – if earbuds can handle the chaos of Rajiv Chowk station, they can handle anything. I also wore them through multiple Zoom calls from my noisy Gurgaon apartment (construction next door, autorickshaws honking below), and took them on a Bangalore-Delhi flight. For music, I mostly tested with Spotify Premium streaming Arijit Singh, some classic rock, and podcasts during my morning walks.
Performance
The noise cancellation is genuinely impressive – I’d say it’s the best I’ve experienced on any earbuds, period. On that flight, the engine drone just disappeared. Metro announcements became a distant murmur. The Immersive Audio feature (Bose’s spatial audio) works brilliantly with supported content, making movie watching on my iPad feel more theatrical. However, I’ll be honest – with regular stereo music, the difference isn’t dramatic enough to keep it on, and it does drain battery faster.
Sound quality is warm and rich, very Bose. Bass heads will love it. Audiophiles who prefer flat, analytical sound might find it slightly coloured. Call quality impressed me – colleagues said I sounded clearer than on my previous Sony earbuds, even when I was in an auto.
Battery life sits around 6 hours with ANC on, which got me through most workdays but not a full Delhi-Bangalore flight. The case gives you 3 additional charges, so roughly 24 hours total. Passable, not exceptional.
Value for Money
Here’s where it gets tricky. At nearly ₹30,000, these are expensive – almost MacBook charger expensive. Amazon.in reviews echo this concern, with many users loving the product but questioning the premium over the regular QC Earbuds. Flipkart ratings hover around 4.2 stars, with fit being the main complaint for some users. The included ear tips worked fine for me, but ears vary wildly.
The Bose Music app works smoothly and the CustomTune calibration that adjusts sound to your ears is a nice touch. Pairing was instant with my iPhone and switching between devices was mostly reliable – occasionally needed a manual nudge.
