Detailed Review
First Impressions
When the Qubo Smart Cam 360° Pro arrived, I was honestly surprised by how compact it was. The matte white finish looks premium enough to sit in my living room without screaming ‘surveillance equipment.’ Setup took me about 12 minutes using the Qubo app on my Redmi phone – not the smoothest experience, but manageable. The camera feels sturdy, and that STQC certification badge actually means something here in India since it is a government-backed quality standard.
How I Tested This
I mounted this camera in my Pune flat’s main hall and tested it for three weeks straight. My real-world tests included monitoring my maid’s entry times, keeping an eye on my 8-year-old when I worked from the bedroom, and checking if the delivery guy actually rang the bell or just left packages outside. I specifically tested the night vision during load shedding hours when my inverter lights were off – proper darkness. Also ran it through a Pune summer with temperatures hitting 38°C indoors during afternoon hours.
Performance
The 4MP resolution is genuinely sharp. I could read my daughter’s notebook from across the room, which my old 2MP camera could never do. The 360-degree pan is smooth and quiet – my wife was worried about motor noise disturbing her afternoon naps, but it is barely audible. Color night vision works decently when there is even a little ambient light from streetlamps, but in complete darkness it switches to black and white which is still pretty clear.
The AI person detection is the real winner here. After two days of learning, it stopped alerting me every time the curtains moved and focused on actual humans. I got maybe 2-3 false alerts daily compared to my cousin’s cheap Chinese camera that buzzes constantly. Two-way talk has slight delay but my voice was clear enough to scold the neighbour’s kid when he tried climbing my balcony railing.
The App Situation
Here is where I have to be honest – the Qubo app is functional but feels like it was designed in 2019. It crashes occasionally on my phone, and cloud storage plans are expensive compared to what Xiaomi offers. SD card support works fine with my 128GB SanDisk though.
Value for Money
At this price point, you are getting Hero Group’s service network and actual Indian customer support that picks up the phone. Flipkart reviewers echo my experience – most complaints are app-related, but hardware reliability seems solid. For a Made-in-India product with proper certification, this is genuinely good value.
