First Impressions

When the Acer Nitro KG271 X1 arrived at my doorstep from Amazon, I was genuinely curious. At this price point, getting a 27-inch IPS panel with 180Hz seemed almost too good. The packaging was decent, and the monitor itself felt sturdy enough – not premium, but definitely not cheap plastic either. The bezels are slim on three sides, which gives it a cleaner look than my old BenQ from 2019. Setting it up took maybe 10 minutes, and the stand, while basic, does tilt adjustment reasonably well.

How I Tested This

I used this monitor for about three weeks as my primary display. My test rig is an RTX 3060 with a Ryzen 5 5600X – pretty standard mid-range stuff that most Indian gamers run. I played Valorant for probably 40+ hours, some Forza Horizon 5, and used it for regular work like Excel sheets and YouTube. I also tested it during a particularly hot May week in Pune without AC to see how it handled heat. Spoiler: it stayed cool, no issues there. I compared colours side-by-side with my colleague’s LG 27-inch IPS panel that costs about ₹8,000 more.

Performance

The 180Hz refresh rate is the star here. Coming from a 75Hz monitor, the difference in Valorant was immediately noticeable – flick shots felt more responsive, and the overall smoothness made long gaming sessions easier on my eyes. The 1ms response time claim is probably optimistic (real-world is closer to 4-5ms in my testing), but for someone not competing professionally, it’s perfectly fine. Colours are decent for an IPS at this price – not as punchy as my colleague’s LG, but way better than any TN panel. The 99% sRGB coverage holds up for casual photo editing too.

Where this monitor struggles is the stand. No height adjustment means I had to stack some old books underneath to get it to eye level – a common complaint I noticed on Flipkart reviews too. Also, the built-in speakers are basically useless. I tried watching a movie once and immediately plugged in my headphones.

Value for Money

At around ₹14,000-15,000, this monitor punches above its weight. You’re getting IPS colours and high refresh rate at a price where most competitors offer only TN panels or 144Hz max. However, if you can stretch your budget to ₹18,000-20,000, monitors like the MSI G272 or LG 27GQ50F offer better build quality and features. For students or first-time gaming setup builders on a tight budget, though, this is a solid pick.
