A genuinely good budget mattress that delivers on its dual-comfort promise, though the ‘firm’ side might be too firm for some Indian sleepers.

Detailed Review

First Impressions

When the Wakefit mattress arrived at my Bangalore flat, I was honestly surprised by the packaging. It came vacuum-rolled in a box that two delivery guys managed to carry up three floors. The unboxing experience is oddly satisfying – you cut the plastic and watch it slowly expand over 24-48 hours. Fair warning though, there’s a distinct foam smell that took about 4-5 days to fully disappear in my case. My wife wasn’t thrilled during that period.

How I Tested This

I’ve been sleeping on this mattress for roughly 8 months now, through a sweaty Bangalore summer and the recent winter. We’re a couple – I’m around 78kg and my wife is 55kg. I specifically tested both sides for about 2 weeks each. The softer side felt like sleeping on a cloud initially but started causing lower back discomfort after a week. Flipped to the firmer side and that’s where we’ve stayed. I also checked how it handles sitting on the edge (decent, doesn’t sink too much) and whether partners feel each other moving at night (minimal disturbance, actually impressed here).

Performance

The dual comfort feature is legitimate – the two sides genuinely feel different. The firm side is what I’d call ‘Indian firm’ – closer to what our parents slept on, but with some give. The soft side is more hotel-mattress feel. Heat retention was my biggest concern since foam mattresses trap warmth, but honestly, with a ceiling fan on medium during summer, it was manageable. Not as cool as a coir mattress, but acceptable.

One thing nobody talks about – this mattress is HEAVY. Once you place it on your bed, you’re not casually flipping it. We needed help rotating it after 3 months as recommended.

Build Quality & Warranty

The 7-year warranty sounds impressive but read the fine print. It covers manufacturing defects, not comfort preferences or normal wear. The foam quality seems decent – no visible sagging yet at the spots where we sleep regularly. The outer fabric is okay, nothing premium, but does the job.

Value for Money

Compared to Sleepwell or Kurlon at similar prices, Wakefit offers better foam density. Compared to Duroflex or Sunday, you’re saving ₹5,000-15,000 but getting maybe 70% of the comfort. It’s genuinely a solid budget pick. I checked Amazon and Flipkart reviews – the 4.2-star average with 50,000+ reviews seems accurate. Most complaints are about the smell and firmness preferences, which are subjective.

Our Verdict

If you’re upgrading from a cotton gadda or a worn-out spring mattress and don’t want to spend ₹20,000+, the Wakefit Dual Comfort is genuinely worth it. I’d recommend it for couples and back sleepers. If you prefer plush, sink-in comfort or sleep very hot, look at Sunday Mattress or spend more on the Wakefit Ortho Memory Foam instead.
