I was genuinely surprised by how compact the roll-packed box was for a king-size mattress. Unboxing was straightforward – cut the plastic, let it expand, and wait about 6-8 hours before using. Fair warning: there’s a mild chemical smell initially that took about 3 days to completely disappear in my case. My wife was quite sensitive to it, so we kept the windows open and used a bedsheet cover from day one.

How I Tested This

I’ve been sleeping on this mattress for about 4 months now, through Bangalore’s mild winter and the increasingly warm March nights. As someone with mild lower back issues from sitting at a desk all day, I specifically wanted to test the orthopedic claims. I also had my parents (both in their 60s) try it during their visit – their feedback matters because older folks often struggle with memory foam mattresses that are too soft.

Here’s the thing – Wakefit calls this ‘medium firm’ but I’d say it leans more towards firm, especially in the first month. The top memory foam layer does contour to your body, but there’s solid support underneath that prevents that sinking feeling some people hate about memory foam. For side sleepers like me, it took about two weeks for my shoulders and hips to adjust. My back pain has genuinely reduced – I’m not waking up stiff anymore, which is a big win.

The 6-inch thickness works fine for most people, but if you’re on the heavier side (85kg+), you might feel the base more. Heat retention is a real concern with memory foam in India, and yes, this mattress does sleep slightly warm during summer. I’ve started using a cotton mattress protector which helps somewhat.

The 10-year warranty sounds impressive, but read the fine print – it covers manufacturing defects, not normal wear and sagging under 1.5 inches. The zipper cover is removable and washable, which is practical. Edge support is decent but not exceptional – sitting on the edge to tie shoelaces, you’ll notice some compression.

Value for Money

At this price point, you’re getting genuine memory foam, not the cheap rebonded stuff many local brands sell. Compared to Sleepyhead and Springtek in the same range, Wakefit offers slightly better density foam. However, if you check Flipkart and Amazon reviews, you’ll notice some complaints about delivery damage and inconsistent firmness across batches – something to keep in mind.
