Detailed Review

First Impressions

When the delivery guys brought this massive box to my 2BHK, I was genuinely worried it would not fit through the door. Thankfully, it comes partially assembled. The brown leatherette looked surprisingly decent out of the box, not that cheap plastic-y shine you see in furniture showrooms at Kirti Nagar. My wife immediately commented it looks like something from a 5-star hotel lobby. That is the good part.

How I Tested This

We have been using this recliner daily for about 6 weeks now. My father-in-law stays with us and he basically claimed the center seat for his afternoon naps and evening news watching. I tested it during the brutal May heat in Delhi NCR, and here is where things get interesting. The leatherette gets sticky and warm if you sit for more than 30-40 minutes without AC. We had to throw a cotton bedsheet over it during power cuts. My 8-year-old son has jumped on it multiple times despite my warnings, so I can confirm it handles some abuse.

Build Quality and Comfort

The frame feels sturdy enough, no creaking sounds even after weeks of use. The reclining mechanism works smoothly on the two side seats. You pull the lever, lean back, and the footrest comes up. Simple. But here is my honest complaint – the cushioning is firm, almost too firm initially. It took about 2 weeks to break in properly. The center seat does not recline, which is standard for 3-seaters, but the backrest there feels a bit thin.

The stitching is neat and the brown color hides stains well. We spilled chai twice and wiped it off easily. However, I noticed some slight peeling near the armrest after my son scratched it with his toy car. Leatherette is leatherette, it will not age like real leather.

Assembly and Space

Assembly took me and my brother about 45 minutes. The manual is okay, not great. You will need a basic toolkit. This thing is massive, roughly 200cm wide, so measure your room properly. It barely fit in our living room with some furniture rearranging.

Value for Money

At around 30k, you are getting decent value but not exceptional. Local furniture markets offer similar looking recliners for 22-25k, though build quality varies wildly. The Amazon warranty and easy return policy give some peace of mind. But if you want genuine comfort for long hours, you might need to spend 45-50k on brands like Durian or Godrej.

Our Verdict

The Solimo Costa is a decent entry-level recliner if you have a limited budget and want something that looks good in photos. For serious comfort or long-term durability, I would suggest saving up for Wakefit Napper or Durian recliners instead. Buy this only if you prioritize looks over plush comfort.
