Detailed Review
First Impressions
When the ASTRIDE Ergofit arrived at my Bangalore flat, I was honestly surprised by the packaging quality. Everything was bubble-wrapped properly, and the assembly instructions were in English and Hindi. Took me about 45 minutes to put together with my wife’s help – the Allen keys provided were decent, though I’d recommend keeping a screwdriver handy. The chair looks premium enough that my colleagues on video calls have asked about it.
How I Tested This
I’ve been using this chair for roughly 8 weeks now, sitting 9-10 hours daily for my IT job. My old ₹4,000 Amazon Basics chair had destroyed my lower back, so I was desperate for something better. I specifically tested the lumbar support during marathon coding sessions, checked the mesh breathability during Bangalore’s humid April evenings (no AC, just a ceiling fan), and adjusted the height for both my desk and our dining table where I sometimes work. I also had my 5’2″ wife and my 6’1″ friend try it to gauge the size range.
Performance
The lumbar support is genuinely the star here. It’s adjustable in both height and depth, which most chairs under ₹20K don’t offer. After two weeks, my chronic lower back stiffness reduced noticeably. The mesh back breathes well – I haven’t experienced the sweaty back problem I had with my old leather chair. The recline mechanism works smoothly up to about 135 degrees, perfect for those post-lunch power naps between meetings.
However, the armrests are where ASTRIDE cut corners. They’re 2D adjustable (up-down, pivot), but the padding is thin and gets uncomfortable after a few hours. The seat cushion is firm – good for posture, but if you prefer plush seating, this isn’t it. Also, the hydraulic lift makes a slight squeaking sound after about a month of use. Not a dealbreaker, but noticeable.
Value for Money
At this price point, you’re competing with Green Soul Monster and Featherlite Optima. The ASTRIDE offers better lumbar adjustment than Green Soul but doesn’t match Featherlite’s build quality. Flipkart reviews mention similar armrest complaints, so it’s not just my unit. If back support is your priority and you can live with average armrests, this delivers good value. For those who type all day and rest their arms constantly, maybe look at the Green Soul Seoul instead.
