Detailed Review
First Impressions
When the Godrej AC arrived, I was genuinely surprised by the teak wood finish on the indoor unit. Most ACs look like generic white boxes, but this one actually blends nicely with wooden furniture. The build quality felt solid, not flimsy like some budget options I’ve tested before. Installation took about 3 hours with the local technician, and Godrej’s team did a follow-up call which was a nice touch.
How I Tested This
I installed this in my 180 sq ft bedroom in Pune and tested it through the brutal May heatwave when outside temperatures hit 42°C. I ran it on different modes – full cooling at 16°C, eco mode at 24°C, and tried all the convertible cooling options. My electricity bill comparison was against my old 5-star Voltas in the living room. I also checked noise levels at night using my phone’s decibel meter while sleeping.
Performance
The cooling is genuinely good. On turbo mode, my room dropped from 35°C to 24°C in about 12-15 minutes, which is respectable. The 5-in-1 convertible feature is actually useful – I keep it on 80% capacity for solo use and bump it to 100% when guests stay over. The 4-way air swing distributes air evenly, no hot spots in corners like my old window AC used to create.
However, being a 3-star unit, the power consumption is noticeable. Running it 8 hours daily added roughly ₹1,800-2,000 to my monthly bill compared to around ₹1,200 with a 5-star. The AI-powered feature is basically auto-adjust based on room temperature – works fine but nothing revolutionary.
Noise Levels
Indoor unit is reasonably quiet at around 38-40 dB on normal mode. Outdoor unit is where Godrej disappoints slightly – it’s louder than my friend’s Daikin, and neighbours in my society have commented. Not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing if your outdoor unit faces someone’s bedroom.
The Warranty Advantage
The 5-year comprehensive warranty is genuinely the biggest selling point here. Most brands offer 1-year comprehensive plus extended compressor warranty, but Godrej covers everything for 5 years. Given how AC repairs can cost ₹3,000-8,000 per visit, this is real peace of mind.
Value for Money
At this price point, you’re choosing between Godrej’s warranty and reliability versus spending ₹5,000 more for a 5-star rated LG or Carrier that saves on electricity long-term. For people running AC 4-6 hours daily, this Godrej makes sense. Heavy users running 10+ hours should invest in 5-star.
