Detailed Review
First Impressions
When the Nilkamal Breeze set arrived at my Pune apartment, I was genuinely surprised by how compact the packaging was. The weathered brown colour looked exactly like the product images, which is rare for online furniture purchases in India. Assembly took me about 45 minutes with my wife’s help, and honestly, the instruction manual could have been clearer. The toughened glass table top came well-protected, no scratches or chips.
How I Tested This
I placed this set on my 8×6 feet balcony facing west, which gets brutal afternoon sun during April and May. We have been using it daily for evening chai for about 6 weeks now. I also intentionally left it uncovered during two heavy pre-monsoon showers to test the weather resistance claims. My father-in-law, who weighs around 95 kgs, sat on it during a family visit, so I got a decent stress test done too.
Build Quality and Comfort
The plastic wicker weave looks premium from a distance, but up close you can tell it is not real rattan. The frame is sturdy enough, made of powder-coated steel that has held up so far. My main gripe is the seating comfort. Without cushions, sitting for more than 20-30 minutes becomes uncomfortable. The backrest angle is a bit too upright for my liking. I ended up buying separate outdoor cushions from Amazon for ₹1,200, which should honestly be included at this price point.
Weather Performance
After those rain tests, I noticed water pooling in the seat grooves. It drains eventually but takes time. The colour has not faded yet despite the harsh Pune sun, which is impressive. The glass table top handles hot chai cups without any issues, though I would recommend using coasters for very hot vessels.
Value for Money
Comparing with local furniture shops in Aundh, similar looking sets cost ₹12,000-15,000, so Nilkamal does offer savings. But checking Flipkart reviews, many buyers complained about wobbly legs after a few months. The weight capacity mentioned is 120 kgs per seat, but I would not push it beyond 90 kgs per person to be safe. For restaurant or commercial use as advertised, I think it is too lightweight and might not survive heavy daily use.
