First Impressions

When the delivery guys hauled this 38 kg machine into my bathroom, my first thought was — it looks pretty standard. Nothing flashy, just a clean white finish with a digital display panel that feels functional rather than fancy. The build quality is decent for this price range, though the plastic tub lid feels a bit flimsy compared to my old LG. The control panel is straightforward, which my mom appreciated immediately — she hates complicated buttons.

How I Tested This

I’ve been using this machine for about 6 weeks now in my Pune home with a family of four. We tested it with everything — heavy bedsheets during monsoon season, my dad’s oil-stained work clothes, delicate kurtas before Diwali, and the usual weekly mixed loads of cotton and synthetics. I specifically ran the machine during peak summer when water pressure is pathetically low in our area to see how it handles fill cycles. Also tested the Express wash with gym clothes that smelled like they’d been through a war.

Performance

The 9 kg capacity is genuinely useful — I can fit a double bedsheet along with pillow covers and still have room for towels. The SoftCare drum does seem gentler on clothes; my wife’s chiffon dupattas came out without any snags, which was a pleasant surprise. Wash quality on the Normal cycle is good, maybe 7/10 for stubborn stains. I had to re-wash a couple of my son’s school uniforms that had turmeric stains — the machine couldn’t handle those in one go.

Here’s where I have mixed feelings — the noise. During the spin cycle, this thing sounds like a small aircraft taking off. We’ve placed it on a rubber mat, but it still vibrates enough that we avoid running it during afternoon naps. The 680 RPM spin speed is on the lower side, so clothes come out wetter than I’d like. You’ll need extra drying time, especially during humid monsoons.

Water and Power Efficiency

For a top loader, the water consumption is acceptable. It uses roughly 140-150 litres per full load, which is standard. The 5-star energy rating does reflect in our electricity bills — we haven’t noticed any significant spike since switching to this machine. The low water pressure sensor worked surprisingly well; it adjusted the fill time automatically when our tank was running low.

Value for Money

At under ₹20,000 for a 9 kg fully automatic, you’re getting fair value. The Voltas Beko service network has improved — we had a minor rattling issue and the technician came within 3 days, which is better than what I’ve read on Amazon reviews for some other brands. However, Flipkart reviews do mention motor issues after a year for some users, so the 2-year warranty is something you’ll want to keep track of.
